UberColumns: Turn One Paragraph into Multiple Columns

You might not know that Adobe Photoshop can create multi-column text. I did not know either, because there is no visible UI for it and no mention in the official developer docs. While exploring Photoshop internals, I found this capability and built a UI for it.

The panel works in Photoshop CC and newer. It does not modify text styles or break document structure. You can safely save and open files on another machine (even without the plugin): columns stay intact because this is a built-in, though hidden, Photoshop feature.

How it works

  1. Select a paragraph text layer.
  2. Set the number of columns in the first input.
  3. Set column spacing in pixels in the second input.
  4. Click OK.
